Blog Tips I Learned the Hard Way

Most of us have ONE blog, I have many.  The reason is that each time I learn more about what I should be doing and the reasons that things I do, aren’t working.  On this blog I wanted to start with fresh content, from me.

So, I thought I would post about what tips I learned the hard way.

  1. Don’t copy other bloggers.  What is this really going to get you?
  2. Get some SEO done as soon as you make your first post.  If the search engines can’t find you for the right reasons, you aren’t going anywhere online.
  3. Get a custom theme.  Start with any theme but default, but make sure you pool some $$ together to get one made up as soon as you can.  You will want to make a name for yourself ASAP.
  4. Blog on a regular basis.  People come back to blogs because they have information that is useful.
  5. Don’t always rely on return readers.  Once they subscribe it’s hard to get them to come back to the actual blog.  Concentrate on getting new readers with fresh content.
  6. Forget the contests.  They are hard to run, regulate and a waste of your time for short term readers.
